We also offer a sports broadcasting track, designed to prepare you for the ever-expanding field of sports media.

Curriculum: A Blend of Theory and Practice

Our curriculum takes you on a journey from the early stages of multimedia communication to understanding today’s intricate combinations of telecasting through various media outlets. You will gain hands-on experience in broadcasting, video production, and explore contemporary theories central to mass media.

Courses include Broadcast Reporting, Social Media, Video Editing, Production for Broadcast, and more, which together provide a robust foundation in the multimedia communication landscape.

Dive deep into the action-packed world of sports media. Our practical, hands-on curriculum brings you closer to the field and provides an insider’s view of both traditional journalism and multimedia roles in sports media. From the thrill of cross-platform sports production and media sales to the artistry of editing and independent production, you’ll have direct access to numerous opportunities through YSU athletics and our associations with the Missouri Valley Conference and Horizon League streams and broadcasts.  Our multimedia degree is your ticket to fulfilling careers as digital media producers and sports journalists.

  • On-Campus Roles – Many of our multimedia degree majors work for University Relations, YSU athletics, or as part of our award-winning student media teams. Our students have access to two video podcasting studios, a television studio and control room, and two post-production labs. 
  • Local Jobs and Internships – Because Youngstown, Ohio, is a major media market, there are many broadcasting and media opportunities right here in the community. You can also gain expertise in public relations and with local minor league sports teams.
