Bureau of Labor and Statistics Data and Job Outlook

The profession of respiratory therapy is seeing substantial growth and demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of respiratory therapists is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations. This growth is anticipated due to the aging population and the increase in respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia, which require the expertise of respiratory therapists.

The BLS notes that the median annual wage for respiratory therapists was notably higher than the median wage for all occupations. With the continued rise in the prevalence of respiratory conditions and the expanding roles of respiratory therapists in diagnosing and treating patients, graduates of the Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy program can expect a robust job market.
