“What do you even plan on doing with that major?”
Now, as I enter my senior year as an undergraduate at YSU, I’ve learned that psychology is one of the most versatile and multidisciplinary degrees a student can pursue. Whether you’re interested in mental health, research, law, or healthcare, a psychology degree can open doors to a wide variety of rewarding careers.
What can you do with a psychology degree? Help people with their mental health!
Many psychology students are drawn to the field because they want to help others improve their mental health and wellbeing. At YSU, students can complement their psychology major with minors related to this field such as social work or counseling to prepare for careers in human services.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, graduates may then choose to continue their education. YSU offers a Master of Science in Education in Counseling with tracks in addiction counseling, clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and college counseling and student affairs. Others may enter the workforce directly after a bachelor’s and pursue a licensure in social work or related professions.
