Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology

Our program features a comprehensive curriculum, providing a broad understanding of human cultures, biological variation, and archaeological practices. Fieldwork is the core of anthropology and students are encouraged to participate in domestic and international YSU field school programs. At YSU, you will participate in hands-on laboratory work, analyze human skeletal remains, explore ancient civilizations, learn to use cutting-edge technology, and have the opportunity to study abroad in the Bahamas, Guatemala, and Belize.

Our anthropology courses blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing you for careers in anthropology and related fields or graduate-level study.

What can you do with a bachelor's in Anthropology?

Anthropology graduates are in demand with a growing market in public health, international business, and cultural resource management. Our anthropology courses prepare you for diverse careers in these sectors, as well as for advanced study at the graduate level.

YSU Anthropology graduates have gone on to a diverse array of career paths including: field and laboratory archaeologists, zookeepers, conservationists, researchers, death investigators, and more! Anthropology degree-holders earn positions with the National Park Service, the non-profit sector, and law enforcement. 

Scholarships for Anthropology Majors

Each year, thousands of dollars in scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Education (BCLASSE). Scholarships come from a variety of sources, vary in amount, and are available to both incoming and current BLCASSE students.
