Program Overview

Our on-campus Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS) program blends classroom learning with hands-on lab experience to prepare you for essential work in diagnosing and treating disease. You’ll train to perform complex lab tests that support healthcare teams in hospitals, clinics, labs, and research facilities.

  • 4-year program: 3 years on campus + 1-year clinical internship

Advanced Placement Option

YSU also offers a Medical Laboratory Science Advanced Placement option for individuals who already hold an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. This pathway allows certified Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) to build upon their existing education and clinical experience while earning a bachelor’s degree, creating opportunities for career advancement, leadership positions, and increased professional responsibilities.
