Program Overview
Welcome to the Master of Health and Human Services program at Youngstown State University (YSU)—a 100% online degree designed to accommodate the schedules of busy professionals like you. Our program marries convenience with quality to equip future leaders in the health and human services sector.
The curriculum of our Master’s program is thoughtfully designed to ensure a comprehensive understanding of health and human services. It includes a total of 30 semester hours, encompassing core courses like Research in Health and Human Services, Global Health and Human Services Systems, and Legal and Ethical Issues in Health and Human Services.
Students will take core classes and then choose from three tracks, health care administration, health promotion or health informatics. Those in the health care administration will have the option to work toward their Health Services Executive (HSE) credentials after completing the NAB requirements of and completion of a 1,000-hour Administrator in Training (AIT), and successful passing of licensure exams in home & community based services, residential care/assisted living, and nursing home administration.
Electives enable you to delve deeper into specialized areas of interest, such as Aging in Health and Human Services, Mental Health and Addiction, or Health Disparities and Social Justice, among others. Students have the choice of doing a thesis or internship based on their career goals and choice of track.
Graduates emerge well-equipped to undertake leadership roles in diverse settings, including hospitals, NGOs, community health agencies, and government organizations. Our insightful curriculum, coupled with the rising demand for healthcare services, drives rewarding career opportunities.
