Welcome to the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program at Youngstown State University. We equip our students with the in-depth technical knowledge and practical skills needed to push the boundaries of mechanical engineering.
Our rigorous 36-credit curriculum encompasses a wide range of fundamental and advanced topics. Classes cover essential fields such as dynamics, structural mechanics, thermal-fluid sciences and materials science, providing you with a solid foundation for either a professional career or further academic pursuits.
The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program offers two routes:
Thesis Track: Ideally suited for students interested in conducting research. This track culminates with the presentation and defence of a master’s thesis based on original research.
Non-Thesis Track: Designed for students and working professionals seeking in-depth knowledge and career development. This track includes additional coursework and a faculty-guided project that gives you valuable hands-on experience.
Our Master’s program is designed for students with a background in mechanical engineering or a related field. If you are eager to deepen your understanding of mechanical systems and improve your practical engineering skills, this program is for you.
Graduates of our program are equipped to excel in various roles within the mechanical engineering industry, including design engineer, project engineer, systems engineer, and research and development engineer.
