Welcome to the Master of Science in Biological Sciences program at Youngstown State University. Our comprehensive program offers a perfect blend of advanced coursework and cutting-edge research, empowering students to broaden their understanding of the captivating world of biology.
Our immersive 30-credit curriculum covers a wide array of topics in biological sciences, including molecular and cellular biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, and evolution. The program offers two tracks:
The Master of Science in Biological Sciences program is crafted for students with a background in biology or a related field who aspire to deepen their knowledge in the life sciences. Graduates of our program are well-prepared to embark on careers in various sectors, such as bioinformatics, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and environmental consulting. Potential job titles include biological scientist, research associate, lab technician, biotechnologist, and biology educator.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of biological scientists is projected to grow 5% from 2019 to 2029. This growth is driven by demands for research, development, and conservation efforts in both public and private sectors.
