YSU offers plenty of dining options for students on campus (as well as some off-campus), and each one brings something different to the table. Here, we’ll help you make the most of your college dining experience.
As a first-year student, most colleges will require you to have a meal plan if you live on campus. At YSU, if you dorm in Cafaro, Kilcawley, Lyden or Wick Houses you must have a meal plan. There are a multitude of options to choose from, and you can weigh the pros and cons of each one by viewing our college dining options. Each on-campus dining option listed below accepts Pete’s Points, and most others accept Flex Dollars (except for Wendy’s and Pete’s Treats, which only accept Pete’s Points). Both of these meal plan components have a dollar-for-dollar value, and you (or a family member) can reload them through your YSU account if you run out. Christman Dining Commons is where you’ll see the typical college dining hall layout, and this is the one dining option on YSU’s campus that accepts meal swipes, which means you can eat anything you want from their buffet during that meal period. Kilcawley Center is home to a good chunk of these dining locations, including Wendy’s , Chick-fil-a, The Den, 2.Mato, Chop’d & Wrap’d, Jamba Juice, Pete’s Treats, Dunkin Donuts, and Hissho Sushi. This is a great spot to stop at in-between classes to fuel up, and there’s also plenty of seating if you’re looking for a study spot during lunch.
If you prefer to get your work done at the library, the Maag Library is home to Starbucks, On The Go, and The Maag Café, all of which are quick, solid options to keep you going throughout your study sessions. Similarly, the Williamson College of Business also has a Starbucks and On The Go located in their building, with the addition of the Schwebel Café if you don’t have time to grab food somewhere else between classes. Lastly, Cushwa Hall has Seattle’s Best Coffee, On The Go, and Cushwa Café as options for students who don’t want to wander too far for their next meal.
Below is the list of each on-campus dining location and what YSU meal plan payment they accept. This list is also located on our meal plan information webpage.

All off-campus dining locations accept Pete’s Points only. Most of these options are very close or adjacent to campus, such as StoneFruit, Pressed Coffee Bar, and Hot Heads, which are all located on Lincoln Ave right across from Cushwa Hall. Similarly, if you go one street down you’ll find several more options on Rayen Ave, like Subway or Charlie Staples Bar-B-Que. However, there are some that are a bit further, like Giant Eagle, which is a newer addition to this list. As a grocery store located less than fifteen minutes from campus, it’s a great option if you have extra points and would prefer to make your own meals rather than dine on campus all the time. If you don’t have access to a car, there is a public transit option for YSU students as well. Below, you’ll find a list of all off-campus dining locations, which can also be found on YSU’s Meal Plan Information site as well.
