YSU’s Business Administration in Finance degree offers two distinct tracks to support your career aspirations:
Each track provides a core business curriculum complemented by specific courses to set you on your unique path. Student organizations, supportive faculty, and internship opportunities provide the extra support and experience you need to succeed in your field.
The Financial Management track is your roadmap to executive financial roles. Dabble with the art — and science — of managing an organization’s resources, exploring financial theories, corporate policies, and markets. Understand the reasons behind financial decisions that steer a corporation’s performance and its contribution to our economy.
If you’re intrigued by personal finance and investment planning, our Certified Financial Planner program pathway will help you navigate the nuances of different financial instruments, risk management, and personal investment strategies, advancing you toward the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a strong outlook for financial analysts and personal financial advisors over the next decade, with job growth much faster than the average of all occupations.
Nearly all firms, government agencies, and organizations need financial managers to prepare financial reports, guide investment activities, and execute cash-management strategies to help organizations reach their long-term goals.
Certified financial planners are in high demand because many Americans are reaching retirement age. When you earn your BSBA in Finance at YSU, you will complete the coursework necessary for the CFP® certification examination.

Tuition and fees may vary by major, college, area of study or based on your location. The university reserves the right to assess fees for special services and programs applicable to students. First-time International undergraduate students’ tuition rate is established based on first enrollment and remains unchanged for four consecutive years. Graduate students should plan for a yearly tuition increase of approximately 5%.

Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants applying for admission to Youngstown State University must submit a high school transcript or GED transcript. Submission of American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores is optional. Please note: some majors require test scores to be admitted into the program.
Applicants must have a cumulative weighted high school grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher, a core unweighted grade point average* of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher and have an ACT composite score of 17 or higher or a SAT composite score of 920 or higher (evidence-based writing and reading and math) to be admitted unconditionally. (*Core gpa is calculated based on grades earned in the following courses – English, mathematics, science, social science and foreign language, if applicable, from 9th through 12th grade).
