Every school posts highlights for prospective students to see- but aren’t you curious to know what it’s really like to be a Penguin? Here, we sit down with current students to learn more about student life at YSU.
I really enjoy studying in the Maag Library. Getting to work around other students is super encouraging, plus quick access to coffee is definitely a bonus!
What’s the athletic environment on campus like?
As a member of the women’s lacrosse team at YSU, I love the athletic environment here. There is a great community within athletics. My teammates and I love supporting other sports on campus, and we always enjoy watching the women’s basketball team play.
How about your favorite place to grab food between classes?
Chick-fil-A in the Kilcawley Center is my go to spot for sure.
In your opinion, what’s the best Youngstown restaurant?
So far Cassese’s MVR has been my favorite… Their fettuccine alfredo is hard to beat.
What are some YSU clubs that you or your friends enjoy?
I’ve been able to join the Honors Transcribing Club. It’s been really fun to spend time with other people looking back into history. A cool piece I’ve gotten to work on was a lawsuit about age discrimination in the aviation community.
Why do you think prospective students should choose YSU?
If you’re beginning your college search, I would definitely recommend YSU. It offers so many opportunities to meet people on campus. I’ve also loved being able to make new friends within my degree.
Favorite thing you love about being a Penguin?
I love the pride that comes with wearing our YSU mascot alongside my teammates. It’s awesome to be a part of a waddle of penguins!
